Our Story
How We Started
Anglo Printers began as a modest family-run printing business in Drogheda in the early 1980s, with founders focusing on commercial litho and digital printing for business and local industries.
The business began when a love of horse racing combined with a career in print media for founder John H Kierans, when he began providing Racecards to Racecourses across Ireland, servicing the needs of the Horse Racing Industry, something which the company still does to this very day. This industry specific expertise and knowledge has been built up by our team over many decades and has resulted in on-time next day delivery of over 15,000 individual racecard productions.

First Komori Press
In 1998 Anglo Printers made a bold move, and installed its first Komori Press, the Lithrone 440 was purchased by the new MD Padraic Kierans, which trebled the print speed of the previous presses, and was a transformative installation for the business.
The New Build
2000 saw the completion of Phase One of the Planned upgrade and renovation of the Print Room, and also creating a new Suite of sophisticated Offices on the west side of the premises. Anglo Printers undertook a transformative development by constructing a new structure and roof over its existing building, which allowed operations to continue while significantly expanding capacity. This investment created a more efficient, modern working environment, laying the groundwork for advanced production processes and improved workflow.
By increasing its footprint in the heart of Drogheda, the company was able to grow sustainably, adopt new technologies, and move confidently toward becoming a state-of-the-art production facility, firmly positioned for the future.

A Leap Forward in Print Technology
2002 was a massive year of change and innovation at Anglo Printers, when a 2nd Komori press was added to the Press Hall. This time a Komori L-440II with IR Drying was purchased from Komori France. Coupled with this saw the arrival of the first Screen Computer to Plate (CTP) system which saw the removal of film planning as a process, and artwork and images now being imposed directly onto aluminium plates. This was all part of the Apple Mac and Desk Top Publishing revolution, enabling so much positive change in the industry.
25 Years in Business
In 2008, Anglo Printers completed Phase 2 and 3 of the renovation of our Manufacturing Facility in Drogheda by rebuilding a Print Finishing room and then doubling the size of the facility with a huge extension, and adding another sophisticated office suite, canteen, and washrooms, this time on the East side of the premises. Once this work was completed the management team installed a new state of the art Komori GL-540 conventional printing press from Japan.
Also In 2008, Anglo Printers proudly celebrated 25 years in business, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. The occasion was commemorated with a special event attended by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD, along with a number of distinguished guests. This celebration reflected Anglo Printers’ long standing commitment to quality, innovation, and service, and recognised the relationships and achievements that had shaped the business over its first quarter-century.
At the heart of this milestone was the dedication and professionalism of the Anglo Printers team; an ethos that has enabled Anglo Printers to grow, innovate, and build lasting customer relationships over the years.

Ireland’s First HUV Printing Breakthrough
Anglo Printers installed Ireland’s first Komori GL540+C HUV Printing Press. This press enabled instant curing for all print products be they printed on coated, uncoated, board or plastic materials. This press was a game changer for the business also allowing the move into Printed Packaging, with a HUV Super Hi-Gloss Coating unit and the ability to create inspiring deluxe print effects in one pass through the press.
Driving Innovation Through Sustainable Print
With further advances in press technology, Anglo Printers took another bold leap and bought a 5th Komori Litho press, this time the Komori GL540+C Advance printing press, which has enabled the business to strengthen its depth of Printed Packaging products, by using vegetable oil based conventional inks, and water based aqueous varnishes in the printing process. These significant and committed sustainability actions also led to Anglo Printers developing our Sustainability action plan, which resulted in Project Green Machine, and the installation of over 610 Solar Panels on the roof of the manufacturing facility which now delivers 30% of our annual power requirements.
