Anglo Printers is proud to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Sustainable Development Award at the North East Business Excellence Gala, hosted by the Drogheda Chamber of Commerce. This recognition is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving the environmental sustainability of our operations and services.
Over the past five years, Anglo Printers has placed a major focus on enhancing our environmental impact, striving to offer cleaner, greener solutions to our customers. To be honoured with this award by the local business community is an incredible validation of the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Key Sustainability Initiatives at Anglo Printers
Project Green Machine: Harnessing Solar Power
In the first half of 2024, we installed over 600 solar panels across the roof of our production facility. This major investment in clean, renewable energy powers our state-of-the-art printing press technology and contributes green electricity back to the national grid. Coupled with the installation of LED lighting throughout our offices and production area, these upgrades will enable us to reduce our reliance on the grid by 30% annually, while generating an impressive 247 MWh (Mega Watt Hours) from the sun.
Carbon Balanced Printing: Leading the Way in Carbon Offsetting
In 2021, we became Ireland's first Carbon Balanced Printer, certified by the World Land Trust. Every year, we calculate the carbon impact of our operations and offset it by supporting the conservation efforts of the World Land Trust. In addition, we offer customers the option to carbon balance the paper used in any print job, providing a detailed Carbon Balanced Certificate that outlines the CO2 offset and the contribution made to protecting threatened habitats. The World Land Trust has been instrumental in the protection of over 2.8 million acres of land globally, and we are proud to support their important work.
Responsible Materials: Sustainability at the Core of Our Operations
At Anglo Printers, we are committed to sourcing materials responsibly. We are one of the few Irish print companies certified by both the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These certifications ensure that the paper and other materials we use come from sustainably managed forests, helping to protect vital ecosystems and the species that rely on them.
