Employee in the Spotlight - Jolene Matthews
Fri Mar 29, 2019
Jolene began her career with Anglo Printers in 2014.
What is your role at Anglo Printers and what does it involve?
I am a pre-press designer. I do a lot of the design work that comes in, from logo design to magazines, brochures and racecards of course.
A bit about your career to date with Anglo Printers.
I got work experience here in 2006/7/8 when I was still in DIT. I also did one of the Essential Magazines in 2009 before working for Anglo full time.
How did you first hear about the company?
My Uncle Eugene used to be a print finisher here.
How has the company changed since?
It's far bigger with better facilities and equipment.
What do you like most about Anglo Printers?
It's local. I love working on stuff for the town such as events and design for local and new business. I worked in Dublin and Toronto before and it was a lot different in the sense that you wouldn't know personally who you were designing for.
What is your proudest moment at Anglo Printers?
I designed the Louth GAA programmes over the last four years. I went on holidays last October and David took over a programme for me. The programme won an award! I could call it a proud moment if I wasn't on holidays that week.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
A boat, food and drink. A boat to leave the island and some food and drink to have along the way.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Walk the dog, go to the gym, go shopping, drawing, reading, concerts, gigs, festivals, visiting friends and family and leaving the town every once in a while.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
What would be the title of your autobiography?
I worried about it, but it got done!
Favourite musician, band, book and movie?
Coldplay and Pink Floyd, The Time Traveller's Wife, too many films to mention.
