Anglo Printers secure dual certification with NSAI

It was a fitting end to a very busy year, when the National Standards Authority of Ireland Auditor gave Anglo Printers the green light for dual certification for the design and development of their Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 and Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004.

The staff of Anglo Printers had been engaged in the process of designing their Integrated Management System for just over a year, and had worked closely internally with all employees, and externally with all suppliers to ensure that the firm met the NSAI Quality and Environmental standards.

The process began with an internal review of the current processes to be covered in the scope of certification. This included spending a lot of time with staff involved in all the process from initial enquiry stage through to dispatch and issue of the final invoice. Review findings were documented, and any areas for improvement were highlighted to achieve the ISO standards. This enabled the development of a suitable quality and environmental policy for Anglo Printers Ltd.

The next stage involved the setting of company objectives and targets and spelling out the way forward in order to successfully achieve ISO certification and to continually improve the business. The development of the IMS Manual then followed with a series of procedures and actions to control and monitor processes undertaken at Anglo Printers Ltd. Procedures detailed all processes from the initial enquiry stage through design and printing activities to dispatch and final invoice. Measures were included to control contractors of services outsourced by Anglo Printers Ltd in relation to quality and environmental controls.

The team then developed, as is necessitous, a systematic and effective documentation and communication system. This included the completion of a set of internal audits, initiation of corrective actions as appropriate, development of a checking system to ensure that plans are being achieved/progressed effectively and management review of the system to ensure it is working efficiently and addresses the requirements of the standards, as well as the company requirements. Documentation has been prepared so as to suit the PEFC Chain of Custody Certification process later this year.

All the hard work paid off just before Christmas when the team at Anglo Printers had their Integrated Management System certified to ISO standards by NSAI – giving a great boost to all just before the year end.
